Sherine  F. Ghoneim is the Acting Managing Director and Director of Communications and Policy Outreach at the Economic Research Forum with more than 20 years experience in international development. Sherine has long standing national and international experience in designing, managing and evaluating programs and projects. She worked with the Global Development Network, an international organization dedicated to building social science research capacity, with offices in Washington DC, Delhi and Cairo. As Director of the GDN Cairo Office and managing GDNet Knowledge & Capacity Building Program, she extended support to thousands of researchers and policymakers worldwide to access development knowledge, build capacity towards research communications and uptake and empower researchers towards better communications and policy outreach throughout the 15 years of the program. She also worked with the Economic Research Forum in different capacities as Communications and Knowledge Manager in the late 1990s, as Acting Managing Director between July 2013 and March 2014, as Communications Director 2014 – 2015, Director of Communications and Policy outreach 2017 to-date and effective September 2019 as Acting Managing Director. Sherine also worked with the International Network Services and General Electric Information Services in London, UK and with the Information and Decision Support Center in Cairo. Sherine is also a founding member of the Egypt Network for Integrated Development (ENID), to develop viable and sustainable development and employment in South Upper Egypt where levels of poverty and unemployment are high. ENID operates as a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project under the umbrella of Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation. She has a diversified academic background with a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo, an MA in Information Management from Boston University and a Ph.D. from The Management School, Imperial College of Science, Medicine and Technology, University of London. She serves as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computers and Information, Cairo University and served as visiting scholar at the Management Department, American University in Cairo and with the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.  She teaches courses in management studies: project management, electronic commerce and management information systems. Her publications reflect on her academic and professional experience in areas such as research in development, capacity building, knowledge management, strategy development, electronic commerce and e-government. Sherine is particularly interested in researching topics in e-government and managing change. Sherine believes strongly that managing people and change are too valuable to file under ‘business tools and strategies’. Her passion to facilitate change to empower people and organizations reach their goals creates a dynamic engaging atmosphere in the programs and sessions that allows participants bring along their personal experiences and expertise to build towards actionable and sustainable change. Sherine has taken part in a number of national and international business development strategy consulting projects and management leadership training programs across the banking, petroleum and telecommunications fields. As a certified Covey Trainer she has been focusing on addressing the execution gap between strategy and implementation facilitating senior management trainings and consultations. She is also certified to hold the outstanding Ken Blanchard Situational Leadership II programs for which she has held a number of sessions for senior and middle management towards dealing with the business challenges and continuously changing management environment.
